The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, that we now know as Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to be in being in the "child prodigy" category. As a person with Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents, and her family, this came naturally. Maureen moved into this loving home on the 17th of August 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita L. FitzSimons had a successful contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough athletic games as a child and excelled in sports. Furthermore she was gifted acting. This was demonstrated by her winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or performances in the theater that her nation offered. When she turned 14, she was accepted by the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
