Shay Mitchell is an actressmodeland businesswoman from Canada. Her most well-known character is Emily Fields on the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. After excelling at dance and modelling, she wanted to give acting a try and began taking acting classes in Toronto. Mitchell landed some commercials as well as guest roles in TV series. She got her break but it was when she played Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. Critics and fans both were impressed with her performance. Together with Michaela Blayne, she co-wrote the novel for adults titled Bliss. Her parents are Mark Mitchell (born April 10, 1988) and Precious Garcia, brought her up within Ontario Canada. Her mother is a Filipina and her father has Irish and Scottish heritage. Mitchell is also a relative of Lea Salonga, a famed musical theater actress and singer. Growing up, Mitchell attended Rockridge Secondary prior to transferring to West Vancouver Secondary School. She had already modeled around the world in her early teens. The model traveled to Barcelona and Bangkok prior to returning to Toronto to study acting.
